Arretjes Cake

The ‘arretjes cake’ is a typical Dutch recipe which is very easy to make. You don’t even need an oven! In this video Ashley is going to show us how to make one. It’s a perfect recipe to make during the holidays!

Ingredients:

  • a cake tin (or an other baking mould)
  • 250 grams butter
  • 2 eggs
  • one pack of biscuits
  • +- 8 rock candy cookies
  • 2 tsp vanilla extract
  • 2 tsp cinnamon
  • 2 tsp mixed spice
  • Aluminum foil

First cover the cake tin with aluminum oil so the cake will get out easily. Mix the eggs until light and fluffy, then add the butter. Be sure that the butter has cooled down a little before you add it! After that, it’s time to add the vanilla, the cacao, the cinnamon and the mixed spices to the mixture. Crumble the biscuits and add these too. Now it’s time to pour the batter in the baking mould. Press the mixture a little to make sure it won’t fall apart.

Fridge for one night. Cut with a sharp knife. Yummy!
